Whats your poison? This was one of the questions I got one day when I was being offered a drink. It got me thinking whether everyone has a poison of choice? I know there are a lot of people that don’t consume alcohol at all but I believe that everyone has some sort of poison. What I mean by poison is drug or addiction, something you get obsessed with and something you crave. We all have that craving and in some instances it might be multiple addictions because of one main thing. “Dopamine“

According to webmd, Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter and plays a role in how we feel pleasure. Its what we Look for when we consume drugs, unhealthy food or anything that gives us a sense of satisfaction. Dopamine is good but it can be really bad. If your body releases dopamine because of bad habits like substance abuse or social media, then you probably have a problem. That kind of release could affect your productivity negatively and it’s very hard to break free from it because your body has now been conditioned that way.

however the good side of dopamine is that it can keep you going on and on, without getting tired when working on a project that will give you delight, like coding for a great idea! That’s how many successful individuals build their businesses and organisations. If your dopamine fix causes you to be unproductive, you need to rearrange you life, to condition your body to release dopamine for productive work. You can do that by doing a dopamine fast where you starve yourself from all possible dopamine releasing activities you can think of. Once you no longer crave them, you start building on positive dopamine fixes that will get you doing productive work!

so my question is… what’s you poison?!
